Privacy Policy
Your story belongs to you.
MotherTasker helps mothers and caregivers translate care, household, life, and work experience into professional language, profiles, and economic options.
This is a general template and not legal advice. Please have a lawyer review it before funding, partnerships, or institutional use.

What we collect
- Your name or chosen name, profile headline, city or region, languages, years of experience, and any profile details you choose to enter. If you choose Use my current location, your browser also provides latitude and longitude for future location-based features. Raw coordinates are stored with your profile but are not shown on your public profile.
- Your optional email address if you enter it during onboarding so we can help you return to or receive the profile you build.
- Your email address when you create an account or sign in with email/password or Google.
- The caregiving, work, school, household, and life stories you type into the onboarding and Skill Translator flow.
- If you upload a résumé from your profile, the text of that résumé and any extra notes you add about a role. We use it to extract skills and to build a résumé view; we do not keep the file or the raw text after that.
- Generated skills, summaries, resume language, résumé views, profile cards, profile links, and profile visibility settings.
- Mentoring topics you choose to publish on your profile in the Hives directory: the topic name in English and Spanish, whether it is free or paid, the price you set, and the short description you write.
- Mentor requests you submit through the Hives directory: the category you pick, what you write about the help you want, and your language preference.
- Hire-a-MotherTasker interest form submissions, including name, organization or family, and the help requested.
- Browser state such as language preference, session information, onboarding answers, profile slug, and profile management token.
Where it is stored
Profiles, visibility settings, mentoring topics, mentor requests, hire interest submissions, and account-related records are stored in Supabase.
Authentication sessions and password credentials are handled through Supabase Auth. If you choose Google sign-in, Google also helps confirm your account identity.
MotherTasker is hosted on Netlify, which helps deliver the app to your browser.
How we use it
- To create, save, and show your MotherTasker profile.
- To connect a saved profile to your account later when the optional profile email matches your verified account email.
- To translate your care, household, life, and work experience into skills, summaries, resume language, and application language.
- To extract skills from a résumé you upload and to build a résumé view from it.
- To let you copy, download, edit, hide, or share your profile and results.
- To show the mentoring topics you publish in the Hives directory, and to share your mentor requests with members who mentor in that category. Requests in non-sensitive categories may also be listed in the directory; requests in sensitive categories are shown only to members who have opted in to mentor in that category.
- To respond to hire interest submissions.
- To keep the app working, protect against misuse, and improve reliability.
Skill Translator, résumé upload, and Claude
When you use the Skill Translator, the story text and answers you enter are sent from MotherTasker to Anthropic's Claude API when the Anthropic API is configured. Claude processes that text to generate professional skills and profile language. If the API is unavailable, MotherTasker uses a local fallback instead.
When you upload a résumé from your profile, MotherTasker extracts the text from the file and sends that text, plus any extra role notes and any answer you give to the follow-up question, to Anthropic's Claude API to extract skills and build a résumé view. The résumé file itself is never sent or stored, and the extracted text is discarded once extraction finishes. Résumé upload needs the Anthropic API; there is no local fallback for it.
Please do not type or upload information you do not want processed for this purpose.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not run advertising based on your stories.
- We do not make profiles public by default.
- We do not require real names or photos.
- We do not share your data with third parties beyond the processors named in this policy: Supabase, Anthropic, Google sign-in (when selected), and Netlify.
- We do not share your information with employers, partners, or community members unless you choose to make something visible or submit a form for that purpose.
Profile visibility
New profiles are hidden by default. A hidden profile returns nothing on its public link.
You can choose hidden, community, or public visibility. You can hide your profile again at any time.
Cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage
MotherTasker uses browser storage to remember your language preference, keep your onboarding answers and optional profile email while you move through the flow, hold your profile link and management token in the same browser session, and keep you signed in through Supabase.
If you clear your browser storage, some saved-in-browser progress may disappear.
Deleting your data
To ask for your profile, account-related data, or form submission to be deleted, contact SUPPORT_EMAIL. We may need enough information to find and verify the record before deleting it.
